Katerina Munis is a writer/director and virtual production specialist based in Los Angeles. She holds an MFA in Film & Television Production from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and was Director of Productions at XR Stage, an LED volume film studio.

Katerina is a 2025 Russo Brothers + AGBO Studios grant winner. Her fellowship short film, TIRAMISU, stars Academy Award nominee Quvenzhané Wallis and explores the impact of ICE raids. TIRAMISU premieres at the 2026 Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival.

Katerina's directorial debut, Daedalus, was her USC MFA thesis and screened at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in AMPAV's "Emerging Director" showcase. Daedalus was a FOX studios grant winner and received myriad "Best Director" / "Best Film" awards, including "2023's Best Director" at the Beverly Hills Film Festival in competition alongside feature films. Daedalus was captured using 3D Unreal-Engine environments on an LED Volume stage.

As a screenwriter, Katerina is distinguished as a 2023 Academy Awards Nicholl finalist, 2025 McKnight Media Arts Foundation screenwriting fellow, 2025 Moonshot Feature Accelerator fellow, 2025 Sundance + Sloan screenwriting finalist, 2023/2024 Stowe Story Narrative Labs selected screenwriter, 2024 Next List featured screenwriter, and 2024 ScreenCraft Screenwriting fellow.

 

A classical historian and new media innovator, Katerina creates at the nexus of ancient myth & emerging technology, bringing bold stories to life through a gritty, magical realism lens.
